Rules 11.3.2 & 8.3.2 - Defender can keep a player from returning onto the court from an on court position only e.g. GS moves off court to get to other side of goal post and GK can prevent re-entry as long as she remains on court while defending. If a player has gone off court to retrieve a ball or take a throw in (or any other reason the umpire permits) they must be allowed to return to the court but only at the same point they left the court. Umpire should ensure out of court player re-enters at correct point promptly or player could be penalised for delaying play.
