Had some further thoughts on what you meant by "career". In Australia where I live a career is what you do for a job and earn money to live. If by career you mean earning a living at playing cricket then that is a different story. It is pretty late to begin a first class career, because to need to be performing outstandingly at a lower level.
Dirk Nannes is a person who took up fast bowling and didn`t begin his first class career until he was 29. He had been a professional skier until he was 23. He had, however, played a fair bit as a junior.
Maybe you could end up doing the same.
If you are serious, then a serious discussion with your teamates and coach is needed as they will be the best advisors you will get.
