Football: Rabbits vs Farmers

Description

Setup as shown, but with half the cones turned upside down (holes). - Rabbits (white) must make holes, and farmers (blue) must fix them. Go for 30 seconds, then stop to count which team has more. Repeat 2-3 times for each level, questionning players in between goes.

Progression:

1) 1 ball each, all go at the same time, dribbling only (no kicking).

2) Students pair up, 1 ball between 2. Player without ball runs to turn a cone, then asks for the pass, and waits for partner to do the same.

Extra progressions:

- Only go to colours which coach calls out.

- Spread cones further apart

- 1 farmer can 'freeze' rabbits by tagging them. 1 rabbit can free frozen rabbits.

Coaching points

- Keep moving - accelerate/slow down

- Look around - look for space and think ahead (like chess)

- In 2nd level - player without ball decides where to go next. If you don't have ball suggest where it should go!
