DESCRIPTION

Setup: Three cones placed around edge of area. GK starts with ball. Exercise: GK starts in the centre of the goal. GK rolls ball out to coach and then sets - this should be a smooth movement. Coach receives ball and shoots 1 or 2 touch. GK adjusts to shot and makes appropriate save - DEAL WITH WHAT COMES. Progress from easy saves to match conditioned saves by increasing pace & intesity (age appropriate). GK should face two shots from each position before swapping or resting for 30 seconds (1 rep). Reps: Two shots from each position - first rep should be short drop kicks. GK rolls ball out to one of the three cones coach shoots 1 or 2 touch. Coach varies position around the box - GK should distribute from the centre then set on the angle and make the save.

COACHING POINTS

GK should re-centre after each shot and position accordingly. Shooting power should progress in power and intensity from relatively easy to match conditions. Vary shot types.
